Fixture Type ⇔ SHOWERS
Showers can be any size or shape, and can be made of fiberglass, acrylic, or cultured marble like the ones shown in the pictures below. Updated showers are usually made of tile or stone, so having a shower made of cultured marble, acrylic, or fiberglass can really date a bathroom. Refinishing to the rescue! Shower refinishing will instantly update those old cultured marble, fiberglass, and acrylic showers. To get you an estimate, we will need pictures and measurements for the length and width of the shower walls, as well as the dimensions of the shower floor.
PRICING: Although showers can be any size, they typically range in size from 70sf-120sf. To get a ballpark cost for refinishing a fiberglass, cultured marble, acrylic, or tile shower, multiply the square footage by $13.50.
Also, if you are planning on replacing your shower doors, the time for refinishing is after the doors have been removed while waiting for the new doors to arrive. Allow a few days after refinishing before scheduling the new door installation.
Our pricing is based on a white or off-white finish, but if you want another color, you can choose from our solid color finishes, as we can special order ($75) our refinishing process in any of these colors. You'll notice there are no dark colors offered because we do not refinish in dark colors. That's because even in the semi-sterile environment we try to create, there are still minute dust particles that float through the air that can be seen on a dark surface.
If you don't need a special order color and are just trying to match the color to an existing toilet or countertop that is some variation of white or off-white, Jim has a great eye for color, and can tint the pure white color he starts off with to get close to the color you're trying to match.
Repair Work Prior to Refinishing
Discoloration on a shower floor doesn't usually indicate damage (like it does in a porcelain bathtub). However, a crack in a shower floor constitutes damage, and depending on the severity, repairs can range between $25-$250.
If the crack is small and not causing a leak, the repair is fairly simple, and will usually cost between $25-$75. However, if the crack is large or water is leaking through it, the repair process is much more involved, costing up to $250. That's because cracks like this are usually indicative of and caused by an underlying problem. Either the floor was not supported properly when the pan was installed, or perhaps the house has shifted. In any case, the only way to try to support it from underneath is to drill a small hole in the surface and use a Froth Pak (a 2-piece insulation and sealant product) to try and fill up the cavity beneath the floor. We of course, cannot guarantee it won't crack out again at some point in the future, but we've only seen a handful of failures over the past 37+ years, so it's a good alternative to avoid replacement.
Part of our preparation before refinishing shower floors includes cleaning and trimming back the caulk line all around the pan, and protecting the immediate surrounding area with paper. The day after (24 hours) refinishing, you can choose for us to return to remove the protective paper and re-caulk around the pan, or you may choose to do these final steps yourself. For scheduling purposes, we will need to know at the time you are scheduling the work whether or not you are going to require the Turnkey Option.
PRICING: The Turnkey Service is $95.
